Step-by-Step Instructions

Simple six step process can be managed by one person.

  1. 1
Determine placement of racking on your precast concrete form.
  2. 2
Drill 5/8” holes on the form where the racking will be secured.
  3. 3
Hammer the tips of the nylon inserts into the predrilled form holes.
  4. 4
Pour the concrete mix into your form around the inserts.
  5. 5
Strip the form and watch the insert tips shear off automatically.
  6. 6
Attach racking to the cast concrete using ½” bolts for the threaded insert holes.

Timesaving Breakaway Tip

Setting up threaded inserts on precast concrete forms can be a labor intensive process. Bell Utility Inserts makes mounting easy and efficient for just one worker in minimal time. Conveniently attached to our BUI 5000 product is a 13/16” extended tip with external ridges to secure the insert to your precast form. The tight fit ensures the insert remains level when pouring and vibrating the concrete mix. The tip automatically shears off as the mold is stripped. Quickly set up for the next pour.

The Nylon 6/6 Difference

Most precast concrete inserts are made of standard polymers. Bell Utility Inserts uses mineral filled Nylon 6/6 for superior mechanical strength, stiffness/toughness balance, chemical resistance, low warpage, and paintability. Nylon 6/6 reduces moisture in the sensitivity of raw products while offering high dimensional stability. Its thermal properties include a melting point far exceeding the recommended top curing levels for precast concrete.
